I had the same problem; turned out to be the turn signal switch. Brake light power travels through the turn signal switch because the brake lights have to be overrided by the turn signals.
Check out my wiring diagrams @ http://www.maverickgrabber.com/WiringDiagrams.html . Trace brake light power into the switch and out (left & right). I think it will be your problem as well. -CP
: well I need some advice on what to look for here. My rear brake light isn't working. the turn signal works and they are on the same wire. so the wire is ok. but when I press the brakes I don't get the voltage I should have to the light. and the brake switch is new. and the other brake light works alright. so what would allow the turn signal to work and the brake light not to? where should I even look. I'm lost. thanks for any help
