The cylinder will push fluid back into the pump and make a mess until the level gets lw enough. As long as the fan belt is off it, no problem. : : : : : : : : : : : : : : : My power steering hoses leak like a mad. Today I took the belt off of the pump.Will this cause any more dammage it the system if I don't use the pump? Has anyone tried that adapter that removes the cylinder on the steering shaft? Also will it be easier to steer if the slave cylinder is removed(I know it will be harder than the power assist).But will it get better if all of the stuff on the steering is removed? Thanks Russ
