: Okay guys, my headers are killing my starter by heat-soaking it. What is the best way to combat this problem? I'm tired of having to wait a 30-40 minutes to start my car back up after it has gotten good and hot...

A very common problem with headers, you can fix it in several ways. Wrap the starter with a insulation(available from performance catalogs). Or you can use a header wrapping(not the best choice, headers have a tendency to rust out under it in street drivers). Or my favorite is get a high torque mini starter, it clears headers by a bunch and will generally spin the engine over no matter what. They are wound different than reg starters. There is a place on ebay that sells a high torque, heat resistant starter that looks like a late model Mustang one. Got one for 80.00 and works great. One other thing to consider is using a 1000 amp or better battery. Also something I do on all my Mav's is run as large a diameter cable as possible from the solenoid to the starter. Make mine out of size o welding lead and copper lugs bought at supply store(Farm&Home). Just my two cents worth.
