If however you don't position them correctly in the proper position your wasting your time. I got that figure from my small block book and it's close enough to fit a 289-351w.

This might sound dumb but what the heck is an H and/or X pipe? As far as I can tell it looks like there are two separate pipes that go to the engine and go straight back. Thanks so much for the reassurance.
