: do a vaccuum gage reading and tell us what you get. At idle should be 15-19 inches. Is the carb dribling fuel down the throat? Take a water spray bottle and squirt a small amount of water on each exhaust manifold port by the heads. Make sure they're all the same way they evaporate the water. Shows in you have weak exhaust/cylinder that way. Is the iginition timing jumping around at the timing marks? Do you have any water in the oil system or oil in the raditor?

: : I am having a problem with my 65 v8 stang. It was running fine, then all of the sudden it started to run poorly, smoking what looked like blue smoke, which is unusual for my stang. Thought I blew something in the bottom end so did a compresion test, came out fine all from 180-190. Then thought the carb was screwed up. Pulled it and swaped another 600 vac secondaries with a fresh rebuild (that was on my maverick) but the powervalve was leaking, went away for the weekend and it soaked the engine in gas, I pulled the plugs and blew compressed air out for two days with gas still comeing out. Then put the original Holley 600 back on after rebuilding it. Its not flooded but just wont start. I played with the distributor, but it looks like its firing #1 at TDC. I also made sure I was getting spark to the wires, it seems fine. So what the heck is wrong with it? Jumped the timeing chain? Im stumped, and leaving on sat for six months, i would love to get this thing running! Thanx all
