I found a message in the archives and just went out and adjusted the set screw on the gear box...It seemed to help a great deal...I think. The rest of the play must be in the parts I haven't replaced. I am still interested in a tighter steering response.

: So...I have a 73 Maverick. First I put a suspension kit under it, as well as new leaf springs. Then wheels and tires(15in rims). The inner tie rod ends, center link, pitman arm, idler arm/assembly and steering gear are next(still old).
: My question here is, I read somewhere that you can get a steering gear that has less rotation from stop to stop then stock and I would like to know where? Also, how does a an X-back-yard mechanic now parking lot mechanic adjust the current steering gear to take out the play? My goal is no play but it doesn't seem possible. Will a new stock gear have play? I've inspected the parts and the play is in the steering gear...I'm also familiar with the adjusting screw but not the procedure. Pleas help1 I might as well be sending steering signals to my car on line.
: Next I would like to put in a headliner. The only thing I need is the trim around the door openings that snaps on...I think it's called windlace? Where can I get an unshrunken set(in tan)? thanks! I want after market parts
