As rickyracer said, she can be rebuilt, we have the technology!
DEFINATELY listen to Rickyracer's list.
Presuming you want to got throught with it ( I say Go fo it too) here's some additionals:
1) I'd say try to salvage one of the 2-doors... In the long term they will be the more desireable.
2) Make it a labor of love and don't rush it... Alice has been "in the works" for nearly 4 years, many people have been working on their mav's even longer.
3) Shop around for "doner parts" and labor quotes if you are not doing it yourself.
4) Get it in writing, CYA.
5) Never be afraid to come hear and ask questions.. 90% of my car knowlege is gleaned from these fine folk.
6) You can spend as little as $10 to as much as you want... it becomes a hobby.
7) Other fords make excellent doners for engines ect... v-8's are a lot of fun but don't ignore the I-6's.. Alice could do 80 without breathing hard with a well tuned I-6 200.
8) have fun!
