If I remember right Crane Cams has a stud kit for converting the pedistal mount rocker arm system to a adjustable without any machine work. You have to buy new rocker arms, but it works and isn't that expensive.

: I almost learned a lesson the hard way. I went to purchase the Edelbrock performer plus cam shaft for my '77 302 and was very lucky that the guy from summit was on the ball. He informed me that a cam with that kind of lift needed an adjustable valve train. I have to admit that I am not very versed in valve train components and was startled to find out all the work that goes into converting to a stud mount rockers and giude plates. Unfortunatley I don't have the budget for all that and I will have to wait. The guy at Edelbrock said that he gets calls all the time from guys who call complaining that their valve train sounds terrable or the car won't run.
: I know that alot of the old timers out there are probably well aware of this sort of thing, but the way I figure it, if I can save one person the headache, and money, that I just avoided than I did a good thing.
