: It's really hard to say without seeing the car in person (I have seen pictures). Are we talking $10,000 to $15,000? That seems awfully high. There are shops around here that charge that much, but that is usually for a total frame-off resto. Every nut, bolt, etc. My brother is in the process of having a 1969 Fairlane Cobra done this way. We had to totally disassemble the car, pull the motor, interior, all wiring, etc. We had the car media blasted everywehre except inside. They have it now and it is up on a routeserrie. When they get done, then we have to put it all back together. Their price....$15,000. Personally, I would never pay that much...but my brother has no patience and wants it done NOW. They told him it would be done by March, and then we can get it and start putting it back together.
: Now on my orange car, I basically did the same thing. I took it all apart, engine, interior, wiring, etc. I also had it media blasted everywhere except the interior. As of November 1st it has been in the body shop a year. Still not done yet. They had it primered this week and had applied a guide coat. They were block sanding it yesterday. They found a few more spots on it that needed attention. They will fix those, primer and guide coat it again, then block sand. They basically work on it when they have time, hence, the over a year to paint a rust-free Arkansas car. I will probably end up paying around $4,000 to $5,000 for the paint job. My original estimate was "a little bit more than $2800"...but I have a feeling it will be more..but I can live with that.
: It is very hard, and I mean VERY HARD, to find a body shop willing to do all over paint jobs. they can make five times the money on fender benders. You just have to look around. Talk to people that have a classic car and see who painted theirs. My teal 1970 Grabber was painted for $2500 by a guy that does it part time in his garage.
: I would really hate to see you spend $10,000 to $15,000 on a paint job, but it's really whatever you are comfortable with. Keep in mind, that is way more than the car will ever be worth (at least right now...in 20 years, who knows)

: : I did some checking, and to have my Grabber's paint and body work done at a shop will cost 10-15G's.Thats with me stripping it and sending them a "shell".The price includes all weather stripping, glass, and any cutting and welding.I've already got all the paint and patch panels for them to use.Seeing as I'll be getting a disability compensation here shortly, I think I 'll have someone do my Mav for me so it'll be ready for the next roundup. Is this a fair price, or am I getting "ripped a new one".I will have to put my car back together after they get thruogh with it.
