: I have a 351w in my 74 merc...The engine is wider and it is harder to make it fit, but if you raise the engine mounts up a bit, it helps a great deal. I all your worried about is headers, then that is a stupid worry, with a bit of work, you can have a set of factory manifolds flowing better than headers..

: Open the ports a bit and then smooth them out to a polished finish and then send them to be jethot coated inside and out. The will flow a great deal better, and less temp in the hood area.

: It's a well known FACT, that you can make them flow better, it's just a lot easier to buy a set of headers..The mod to raise the motor mounts will make more room too. We moved mine up 6" for a better center of gravity and that will also up 60 foot times!

: I am racing mine though. This year it's only a 14 second car at 6200 feet above sea level... thats a mid 10 car at sea level. of cours thats aprox...damn keyboard stickin

: any ?s email me.

The manifolds may show an increase in power levels on a "mild" motor, but don't forget that Dave is highly respected for producing massive amounts of power from a 302. He is notorius for making 700-800 horsepower with the stock stroke length. This is one occasion that I think the 2" headers will make more power. Also, I personally would not use the manifolds because they would sound like crap and need some mufflers to mask that hideous sound (another restriction). just my $.02
