They're not hard to put in with the engine in. The biggest trick to them that anyone with any expericence can tell you is, all those casting knobs that stick out from the front and back of the block and the trans bellhousing, grind them off. They are you're biggest headache when it comes to putting in headers. If you do have the engine out it is easier to set them in there and hold them inplace with wire until you get the engine in there. Make sure and put all the bolts in loose first before tighting any of them up.
Another little trick that makes it go easier, but the engine has to be out, test fit the headers on the head and check the bolt holes. You wouldn't believe how just a little off alignment can be a real bitch when the engine is in the car. Just some of those things that comes from doing it a few times that you normally don't find in books. You haven't lived until you put a set on a 69, 428CJ Stang. Two guys normally about two days, and lots of profanity.
: without the headers, and put them on afterwards (when i get them). Or should i wait until i get the headers? If i go ahead and put the engine in now, would i have to unbolt mounts again to put in the headers? from what i've heard, i will have to, and jack up the engine.
: i don't have much else to do on the engine, and seeing it in the car would give me some encouragement too. any advice appreciated.
: thanks,
