I wanted the compression on my 351w and to get that on 351w heads, i would have to stand on the milling mach for quite a while. I opened the 289 heads for larger chevy valves and ported the hell out of both the exhaust and intake. I would like to show you but the roll of film isn't done...
I have pics from the block arriving from the junk yard to cleaning boaring, porting the intake(victor jr.) porting the heads, engine out of the comet....etc..

I Actually work in a shop and my boss builds race engines for several racers. he has 7 NHRA winners under his belt 4 CO 1st place 1 National 1st place and 2 others 2nd & 3rd...

He is the reason I got my comet...

He is the one who taught me everything I know. I suggest the 289 heads ported, and don't mill past a 8.75 compression ratio. raising compression to get horse power that way will cost you in the long run.
