I rebuilt my 4-speed, put in new syncros and bearings, and after I was done I had a VERY loud gear whine in 1st and 2nd, but after the syncros wore in the noise dissapeared after about 100 miles. So if you haven't pulled the tranny out drive it some more first. -CP

: Let this be a lesson to all,if it looks worn or broke then FIX IT!I didn't replace first gear in my 3-spd manual when I replaced all the bearings, synchros, and small parts. It looked a little worn but I thought it would be all right.Besides, the gear was as much as the rebuild kit!I was trying to save a buck.Result;had to pull the tranny BACK out because of VERY excessive gear whine in first.Live and learn I guess.Arnie.
