I got lucky with mine. I honed and rebuilt mine with those rebuild kits for my rear brakes. It's been 1 1/2 years and no troubles yet, and mine weren't that bad considering their age(from 68 Mustang). But CP is right, usually they have corrosion and when that happens it ins't that safe to use, especially for the front(if you have front drums). I would recommend to you to get new. Although I would take apart my old ones first to see, but if you aren't sure how to judge how bad one is, then just get new.
