Jason,
As Ricky stated...the neutral-safety switch won't let the car start unless the car is in either park or neutral. Prevents nasty parking-lot or staging-lane accidents by preventing the car from lurching forward while starting the car in gear. It's basically a switch that your ignition wires run to at the bottom of your steering column. You can locate it by laying in the floor-board and looking on the top side of the column...it is kind of a half-circle looking switch with, I think, three wires plugging into it.
I just switched to a B&M Pro-Stick at the beginning of last racing season, and have had no problems with it. It also did come with the neutral-safety switch built in. However...the Hurst Quarter Stick that I replaced did not come with the neutral-safety switch and I had to purchase one for another $20 or so.
Hope this helps.
: Hey you mentioned something about a "neutral safety switch" when i switch the automatic onto the floor. What is a neutral safety switch and why do i need one?? Thanks....
