Now that I have my reference material here's some info, Nowark & Comp, Orange,Ca. makes a four bolt main kit and some nice stroker kits also, many stroker kits, just a matter the displacement and money you want to pay, That kind of cubic in. and HP you'll have to go to aluminum heads, 2.02I 1.60E big ports to get the flow. Cam .600" lift with 245 to 255degs at .050" lift. Victor manifold, 750 Holley double pumper, gear drive timing, all the expensive=$$$$$$$$$$$$ to keep it together,
The 351W in cast iron form weights in at 525 lbs, heads and manifold in Alm. -50lbs. Parts are very good, smaller engine then the 5.4/4.6
4.6 weights 576 lbs, parts are very expensive not much is known about them yet, also the 4.6 is 4" wider. Room being a issue, get the torch out. No headers for the 4.6, oil pan is different. Would look very good, but a difficult swap.
to go 11.25ET in the quarter at 115mphs you'd have to have a power/weight ratio of appx. 7.5lbs per horse,= 3200 lb car/driver or 425 hp. Less car weight requires less HP, A honest 500HP 351W will put you into the 10s. with all other suspension, tire, drivetrain parts to go with it. Paint it gloss black or red. "Mean Machine"

: I want some suggestions. I have considerd a 5.4 engine in the far future(because it is very expensive right now). But I am considering a 408 for the very near future as a substitute for awhile. Now, will a production 351W hold up to 650 hp with a stud girdle and a few things like that? I don't want to buy a Nascar block. Also, has anyone here done this kind of stroker kit, because I am wondering what combinations you have tried for cam, comp., and carb. set-ups for the maximum power output. My 302 is nice, but I always have the urge for more power. What kind of RPM limits can a forged steel crank 408 handle? Thanks for any info.
