Like Earl said, its been sitting awhile so that makes the fuel system the likely culprit, also make sure you replaced the condenser with the points and check for vacuum leaks by placing your hand over the carb; if the engine dies you're ok but if it runs better you have a vacuum leak. -CP

: My 71 comet w/302 2-barrel w/auto has been acting like the following: When warm, hitting the gas pedal results in a huge dead spot and practically feels like it is not running. Then it will catch up and go. Then at a steady 40 thru 60 mph it feels like it is surging up and down, cutting a little in and out. Seems like a fuel problem? Spark plugs, coil and points were replaced and yielded no difference. Does anyone have any ideas about what to troubleshoot? Car sat for a while off road, so could it be a stuck carb float? Help
: Thanks,
: Bob
