Rudy; you are correct, it does have a detent down in the seat. Take a long thin piece of metal, very springy, and push it down the shaft of the headrest. If you don't feel the detent, go to the other side and try it. It is about 8-10 inches down in the seat. When you feel it give, pull up on the headrest, and it should come right out. Hope this helps.
