The Weiand would definitely flow better, but make SURE you get the right pump for your Maverick, when I looked at aftermarket pumps they all had the outlet on the passenger side (like a Mustang). You need one on the drivers side for your Maverick. If you go to your autoparts store and order a water pump for a 1991 Crown Vic with a 302 you'll get an aluminum pump that will replace your cast iron pump and it'll probably only be about $50; the downside is that some of your accessories might not bolt up; thats the main reason Ford went to a cast iron pump (early 289s had aluminum pumps as well), so they could bolt accessories to it. If you don't use any of the threaded bosses on your cast pump for accessories give the Crown Vic pump a look. I weighed mine and it was 5.5lbs lighter than my cast one. -CP
: The Weiand pump is only $99 in jegs, while a stock replacement at the local parts store is $70. Should I just get the aluminum? any disadvantages to this?
