The only real problem with the alum. water pump is that it is eaten away by antifreeze. It will eventually become like the SB Ford timing cover. Ofcourse it would take an extremely long time to be eaten, and the bearings or seals would probably go out first, but just thought I'd give you this info. I do recommend using the newer GM radiator fluid(the pink stuff) if you have an alum. radiator. And yes, it is ok to use in older vehicles, just not safe to use old stuff in the newer cars.
