Actually gears are able to handle higher RPM's than chains. Yes they are more accurate, and they help an engine be more responsive(not a difference that is really able to be measured , but it is there). You know what they say, every little bit helps. The reason for them being more accurate is because they don't have the slack like a chain does. They also help reduce reciprocating mass, because the center gears aren't a load. But for the street , and strip(up to a certain point), all you'll need is a double roller for strength.
