I rebuilt the C6 in my old F150, and it went pretty well. The tranny rebuild shouldn't pose too much of a problem for you, as long as you keep a few things in mind. Make sure you have all the soft parts (rebuild kit) some small tools (1/4 in. drive ratchet, snap ring pliers, etc) also some good solvent, and a good place too work. It would also be a good idea to get a book on the tranny. I'm not sure where to get one. I borrowed one from a friend who rebuilds trannies in his shop. The most important thing to remember is lay all your parts out in the order you remove them... it saves time. Clean all the parts in solvent, and remove any gasket material, make sure you get it all. Leave the clutch packs in the drums until you are going to put the new parts in. Make sure you put the spring steel back in the right place. If you have an extra clutch for a pack don't try and squeeze it in. Some kits are for more than one tranny (eg. 6cyl vs V8 versions.) When you remove the valve body, watch for small parts! They're small, but important. Check all parts for wear or cracks. As you put it back together replace the soft parts. Check the fluid passages by blowing air in them if you can. The drums in the trans have to fit together just right, so take your time or you won't get the pump back on. Don't forget the pump and tailshaft seals. If your rebuild kit doesn't come with the band(s) for the drum, get them. If you can flatten the old band and see cracks in the material that meets the drum it needs replaced. If you take your time and be careful, it should work out ok. If you wanted to throw in a shift kit now's the time. So good luck to you.
