I've been told it makes for more engine wear because all the parts were gapped for full expansion @ x temp, if it runs cooler, you don't get full expansion. I dunno, it didn't seem to make a difference on mine in any way except for the temp and milage went down, a little more power on cool days, but...
anyway, I went back to a 180, didn't notice a difference except on the guage and my wallet.
: I keep seeing all these people talking about the 160 thermostat, but is it a good idea? I am currently running with a 195, and my engine runs about 195-200 all the time, hot or cold days. I would like it to run a little cooler, but I keep seeing people say to stay away from the 160. Why is that? I unfortunately have never run a 160 throughout my years of playing with my cars, so I wouldn't know if it gives a power increase. Would a 180 be better? Thanks for any info possible.
