MSD is made in El Paso, Tx. about 1 mile from Mexico, it may be made in the US but not by US labor, IE, monkey see, monkey do labor. been to the plant. not impressive. Accel uses a "chevy" style module that you can use a store bought if neccesary with a Mopar style cap, samething from a parts store. Easy to change the advance to what ever you want, better wiring. Only takes two wires to the Coil and that's it. It very durable, user friendly, easy for parts if neccesary, better built also. MSD has had problems with it, just hs Mallory has.
: Also use a 30lb Forged steel flywheel with a Center Force disc/ pressure plate, and shatter shield. Also if you're going over 6500 rpms or near it, use a appx 7 1/2lb steel crank damper, will keep the bottom end together better. Factory one is ??????? after 5500 rpms, and not that accurate. Double roller Cloyes chain/gears. Also make sure and check your piston/valve clearence, and valve spring coil height and bind. The book, "how To Blueprint Your Engine" is very good reading material as is "Musclecar & Hi-Po Engines, Ford 289-302-Boss 302 & 351W". : : ......Here's the combo I'm working on for my Sprint. 302, .30 over, bottom end bacically stock other than redoing the rods,ARP bolts & windage tray, Keith Black 115 pistons, Childs&Albert Zero gap rings, World Windsor Jr iron heads, ported, polished, milled, 7/16 studs, Comp Cams Extreme energy 519-523 lift, 230-236 dur, roller rockers, Weind stealth, 650 double pumper, Hooker super comp headers, 2 1/2" exhaust out the back, not sure what mufflers yet, top loader 4 spd to 3:89 gears. I havent bought ignition yet but probably will be MSD 6AL Any more suggestions out there?
