I dont know about your first question but the Mustang floor shifter can be made to work but you need to change the shifting rod in the transmission to use it. The difference being that when you shift from park to drive on a column shifter, the linkage pushes towards the rear of the car. On a factory floor shifter, it pushes the linkage fowards. To change that, requires dropping the pan & valve body.
