Joel; the 289 and 302 use the same block, and will interchange in nearly
every way. To put one in a Mav is the same as the 302. You will need a
crossmember, if going from an I6 to V8, the brace that goes under the engine
and different exhaust, as well as all the V-8 goodies you need to make it
go. Also, the rear end of an I6 in an early car is much weaker than the
8" in the V-8, so it may be on the list also. And, as mentioned earlier,
you may want to change the springs. Good luck, Earl
