In most cases, not all cases.

Ford did whatever they could to save money and so did the dealerships when they ordered the cars. How many 68 Stangs have you seen with the 427 in it. 50 were built because the dealerships didn't like them and didn't order them nor told anyone about them. Lots of Mavericks/Comet could have gotten much better options and suspensions if only the Dealerships had ordered them. Just look at whats on the lots now. Just thing how much money you save with 4 lug vice 5 lugs per wheel on 10,000,000 cars?

: Hey, I can't speak for all springs but the V8 springs I had were VERY different, the coils were 1/8 thicker and the springs were actually shorter than the I6 springs so its not that the I6 springs were just worn out. -CP

: : Hate to break this to you'll, but in most cases they're the same springs. Only certain models, mostly 4dr with A/Cs & V-8s had different springs. Checked part numbers, and coil specs, they never lie. Problem is you have old springs and you're adding more weight. For a little racing set of springs, get the factory weaker springs from a local parts stores. You have to look at free height and weight rating. Coil # & diameter of coils is the factor. Think about this, if you go to headers, aluminum manifold, you have reduced the weight of the V-8. 302 only weights about 450 lbs. Then get rid of the power steering, a few fiberglass parts, you end up weighing the same or less then the 6 cyl. Mavericks/comets just didn't have allot of spring options.

:
: : : Lets hear everyones opinion. When performing a V8 swap into a 6 cyl chassis, do you really need to change springs if they are in good condition?
