The 3-spd was an original(see tranny tailshaft length below). When I was removing the transmission I noticed a bolt missing out of the linkage mounting plate on the tailhousing, this is the reason I didn't have 1st gear as the plate would move out of place far enough so that the linkage rod could not engage the shift fork far enough.I removed it anyways just in case. I found no real damage just alot of wear. The parts to rebuild it,bearings, synchros, etc is only 68 bucks.Whew!!I'm glad thats all it was, and not any real damage like a stripped gear. Will keep you guys posted on the progress of my restomod 72Grabber. The real meaty stuff is to follow shortly after this, engine, and body work.I do intend to drive my Maverick as I do this resto. So it won't be down too long between projects.
Peace Out,
Arnie
