got it working. Bearing was kind of a tight fit. sprayed some WD-40 on there and pulled real hard. It came off eventualy. :-) Getting the crush pin out and the shift lever back in with the spring in (no spring in there at all, broken or otherwise) was the hard part. Then had to work the bearing back on slowly. Hope it seated properly. Felt like it did. Still have some dash & trim to put back on but turn signals work great. Key in buzzer doesn't work though. maybe side lights are using that power as they flash with turn signals. If it was re-wired it was done under the dash as it doesn't appear to have been in the column. Thanks for all the advice & help.
