: For mine and everyone else's general knowledge, when you replace a push rod, shouldn't you go ahead and replace them all? Same for the lifters?
Thats what I thought too.And if you don't you should at least put them back in exactly the same place they came from,at least thats what I was taught.

: : I'm not sure what kind of problem your explaining but when you bolt down the rocker assembly it will be a little akward cause some of the valves are in the open position. It makes it harder to align everything up. If after it is all bolted down & you find alot of play in one or more valves, then you may have a collapsed lifter. Usually they can be fished out from the top by hooking the inside top edge with a home made flattened hook. There are tools for this but I've never needed one. If you replace one, get some cam assembly lube & put a good coating on the bottom.

: : : I recently removed the head. While putting it back together I could not seat on the pushrods into the lifter. It appears that the lifter has collapsed. My Ford manual does not explain fully how to replace them or even remove them. I have taken the head back off and am told that the liffters should be able to be removed from above. How. Do I need a special tool or can I improvise. Th vehicle has only 83,000 miles, should all the lifters be checked and how. I noticed three of the pushrods were nurled by the rocker and replaced the pushrods. I would appreciate any help that might be available.
