The 76-77 tank is 19.2 gallons while the 71-mid-75's are 16, The only difference is capacity, the newer tank is deeper and longer but not any wider. The new tank will show below your rear valence but otherwise it'll work fine -CP
: Does any one know why the gas tank on a 76/77 would be any different that one on a 71. I know the 69/70's are drop in but the others all look the same. If there is some difference could you still use the later one on a 71?
