I love how the so-called journalist expert wannabes think they can drive the whole industry. They write one article about how they think the Versailles rear is passe, and then everyone wants to discount it as an overly expensive obsolete dinosaur. While it's true that there are aftermarket kits available now that will convert anything to disc brakes, I think you'd be hard-pressed to find a rear that combines reliability, performance and the drop-in convienience of a Versailles unit. And don't EVEN MENTION the name "Currie" if you're on a budget.
: the Versailes rearend has run it's course. They are getting expensive to buy and maintain due to parts for the brakes are hard to get. One of the Ford mags just did a article on it also. The rotors wear fast and the calibers/rotors are getting costly to replace. Check with Currie and other rearend makers for a disc brake kit if that is your main reason for it. Also call some of the parts stores for parts/cost of parts to help you decide.
