I agree w/ rickyracer 100%, if you've replaced the starter recently or want to upgrade then the late model 5.0L starter is gear drive and much more reliable, even sounds better, and is a direct bolt in for your Mav. -CP
: I have a question about my mav. and hot starts. I have a '77 302 that is difficult to start when it is really hot. For example, I'll drive somewhere, park, come back shortly, usually an hour or less and when I go to start it the starter turns really slowly at first. It sounds like it's not gonna turn the engine over at all, then eventually it turns fast enough to start. My in-law's '77 F150 does the same thing. It is hot (San Antonio) down here, I wondered why it does this and what I can do to correct it. I know the engine gets hotter as it sits--no water pump running to cool it, but what is it about the heat that makes it difficult to turn over? Thanks for any suggestions.
