:the iron gt-40 heads are a great bang for the buck. they out flow stockers but the higher dollars heads(canfield, tf, eldobrock, ect.) will make them seem weak. just remember where those heads came from....the 93 cobra mustang.
:
:here's some numbers...
:
:gt-40's(iron) flow 200 CFM intake and 145-150 CFM exhaust.
:
:e7's heads flow 155 CFM intake and 114 exhaust.
:
:Edelbrock Performers flow 210 CFM and 165 Exhaust for comparison
:
:if you really want to see a gain, add a cam and a nice intake.
:
:good luck!

I think that 73MAV's key words are street performance and daily driver. The GT's and Performers are definately better heads but money wise and without a cam etc. the W's could work for him. I have Performer RPM's with 2.02 valves and air gap manifold, Holley 650 with a mild cam. The stock torque converter will defeat all this, went to a 3500 stall and torque curve and HP come in nicely but it's a bear to drive on the street, gas mileage sucks and other nasty little things happen. It all boils down to how the car is going to be driven and how much money is in the wallet. The 75 Mav is now a drag only car and I got a 74 with basically the same 302, small cam, and W heads. 4.11 gears and C4, stock converter. Great street car for about half the cost of the other one and it will run hard!! Just my opinion, have seen people dump thousands of dollars in bolt on's and then **** and moan why it won't run like they think it should. Upgrading for performance is a tricky game of matching each part to another for good results, if the price was right Gt40's are a good choice, 351's can be picked up for around 100.00 a pair and another 150.00 for valve job etc. They don't call me "sqeaky" for nothing. Guess I've rattled on long enough, sorry about that.
