:i have a 72 maverick200 eng, do i have t take off te head to repair a stuck lifter Yes, but try the following first. It may save a lot of work. Remove the valve cover. Start the engine and quickly look for which valve is causing the noise by putting a finger on each rocker until you come to the one that feels like its loose and coinsdeing wih the noise. Stop the engine then get tools and tighten that rocker adjustment about 1/2 turn. If the noise starts to go away, it most likly not a lifter, just adjustment. Good luck Ken
