The flex plate for the 83 has a 50oz counter weight while the 80 and older have a 28oz counter weight. Yes, they have different torque converter bolt patterns unless you happen to be running an old truck C4 with the truck torque converter. Apparently the older truck converters have the larger bolt pattern that fits the newer 50oz flex plate. This is only true of course if the person that sold me the C4 in fact sold me a truck C4. I found that my converter fits the 84 flex plate!
