351w buildup

I have a 351w with an edlebrock performer rpm cam and edlebrock stock replacement timing chain. after putting in the cam and timing chain the cam dowel doesn't reach into the one piece fuel pump eccentric. at first i thought to put a longer dowel, after its all bolted up the timing cover wont fit because now the eccentric sticks out too far. any help is appreciated.
