For the tweeters, consider mounting them on the dash. If you prefer direct sound, aim them at you from either side. Or if you prefer indirect sound, aim them straight up at the windshield, which reflects high frequencies quite nicely. Cabling can be routed down the side of the dash, behind the front kick panels, then around the underside along the firewall to the head unit. I would discourage locating tweeters (or even some midranges) in the kick panels, even though there are 6.5" holes already precut in the metal behind them. The stereo imaging at that location is poor. Also, if you one day want to do an "original" restoration, uncut kick panels are getting harder to find (unless they're being reproduced?).
