:I know of no way to test it unless you install it, charge it up with freon, then fire it up. It could then take a big puke, and dump shaving all through-out your system...then you have to replace the condensor, dryer, evaporator, etc. I speak from experience...I wish I would have gone ahead and bought a new compressor...instead I had to buy a whole bunch of new parts.
