:First, we are talking about a 200 I6b with a C4.
:
:The torque converter has the flex plate as part of it and attaches to the engine with another plate. and nuts. No bolts between the engine and tranny.
:
:I tried to start the engine with out spart plugs.
:
:I pulled off the valve cover and since it has a non adjustable drive train, I puleed the rods to make sure none of them were mis alligned or anything. Tried to start the engine again.
:
:I have not tried to start the engine with out the distributor attached, nor did I try to turn the engine by hand before it was in the car. No luck with a breaker bar now.
:
:What should I do next?

I haven't read all the posts yet, but from what I have read, no one suggested the battery. Are you sure your battery is fully charged? I had a similiar problem with a 302 I had rebuilt a few years back. When I first started to crank it, the engine turned extremely slow and then at one point would not turn at all and it too had the starter click. I then swapped in an Optima battery from my brothers Jeep and the engine spun normal and eventually fired up. You must keep in mind that a fresh engine will be extremely hard on the starter and battery because of the close tolerances and increased friction. I suggest once again to charge your battery if you haven't already. It may appear to be adequite, but it may not be quite enough in reality.

If this fails, I am in agrrement with the others, there is something binding up.
