Day before Yesterday,I completed a disk brake swap on My 1974 Mercury Comet! Part of that process involved dropping the steering colum to instal a new pedal/column bracket. When done, the brakes worked fine. However, I obtained a starting problem in the process, and after having dropped the column, messing around under there, I figured that to be a good place to look. In the end I ended up r&r the backup light switch to inspect it. When I reinstalled it, I failed to get it in properly, and upon first starting the car and trying to back out of the driveway, I broke the lil ole metal clip that attaches to the column that sits inside that switch. This pin/clip/whatever, actually engages the switch when you place the car in reverse. Anybody have an old column lying around with that little metal clip on it theyd care to part with? If not perhaps someone can suggest a southern Engineering Idea!!
