73 has a "Metering" valve, with only one removable end on it. That is the rear brake end of it. The 77 has a proportioning valve, with two screw in spring assemblies, one at each end. The one end looks like the Meter valve and that is the same as the Prop. valve. Prop has a inlet for two lines from the Master Cyl. one for the rear one for the front brakes. Front has two outlet fittings and rear just has one. There is three types of "BRAKE BLOCKS" Older cars had a distribution block and it just was a 4 fitting block for the one line from the master cyl to pump fluid to all the brakes. Later around 67/68 Metering blocks came out for better front/rear braking. Then with discs came Prop valves, this has a metering for the rear and a spring loaded prop valve that only works in "panic braking" situations, other wise the metering end does everything just like a Metering block does. If you have discs you need a Prop valve. You won't feel the difference until you really need it in a panic stop.

:Ok, I don't have the brake line hardware I'll need but I have everything else......I was going to start today but I'm a little confused about the proportioning valve. The 73 drum one and the 77 disc one are the same shape but attach to the fire wall diferently. I failed to notice where the lines went on the 77. Anyway...I looked at my chiltons and it only shows one type of valve and only one way to run the lines...Im woried help...I don't know what way to run the lines. My current lines don't match the chiltons diagram. I know this is a common question...but please help
