The choice is up to you. But here are some thoughts. I have ran the following on my Mavericks:

14x7 rim 3-1/2 inch backspacing with 225-60/14s on the front and 15x8s with a 3-1/2 backspacing on the rear with 235s, 245s and 255-60/15s. However now on that car I run a 16x7 with a 245-45/16 in the front and a 16x8 with 255-50/16 (BFG Drag Radial). Wider is better… oh wait that's Pontiac eeek GM oh wait I drive one of those too. Hee Hee Hee

Anyhow my other Maverick I use a 15x5 with a Goodyear 195-65/15 for the front and am M&H J-60/15 in the rear (about 27 inches tall and about around an equivalent to a 245 in tread size.) But this car is only for going for 1320 (1/4 drag) so who cares about corners. But this set up is not great for everyday… well if you drive like me.

If you really think about it you can fit almost anything reasonable under a Maverick it is just a matter of how you want it to look? How do you want it to handle? How do you want it to ride? Are you going to lower your car? Are you gonna shorten the rear? Do you want to roll the inside fenders in? I mean there are many combos out there. I mean there are a few out there that run 17s which look awesome but then again it will ride really hard. Even with my 16s It rides a bit hard. You can stick 275-50/15 in the rear but is the tire sticking out really the look you want? 31 inch meats are great too but we gotta be talking some cash unless you got a friend or can do it yourself. Or even a 15x3 bicycle tire in the front but what that Honda on your ass when your going 25 mph on a corner that people take are 60 mph?

Anyway you should check out some of the archives there are lots about wheels and tire questions. In addtion check out my web site to see the two very different set ups I have done with my heaps… opps I mean Mavericks.

Good luck and happy to confuse you more ; )
