Ok so I can't give you an "expert's" opinion, but....

Drop me a private email and I can give you directions to my house (in Woodinville) where I could check out Alice for you -- free. Regarding any advice I might give: you get what you pay for! But if it would give you some peace of mind to know that another set of eyes from this list has actually seen her engine in person, I'd be happy to help.

Disclaimer: I have no qualification of any sort to be a mechanic other than that I always did all of my own engine maintenance on my own 302 mav, right down to a full teardown and -- I hope soon -- rebuild.

Regarding storage: I have always heard that if you are planning to store a car long term, you need to disconnect the battery and drain all of the fluids, including gas from the tank. I can't imagine turning over the engine only "once in a while" would do much good unless you are planning to run it. Quite the opposite: cranking a cold engine is one of the worst causes of wear. But this is just wisdom from my granddad who did rebuild engines in his day....

Oh yeah, my wife tells me to say that I'm not just some sick pervert looking to take advantage of you.

:Does this sound odd to you... I opened alice's hood to "See what there is to see" and it didn't look ANY differant. I called the shop and asked what had happened and he said they used an "infered dye" and that the old oil wouldn't make a differance.
:From MY "practiced" eye (haha) It looks like the oil is comming from under the distributer and oddly enough from out of the air cleaner (though the filter was still relatively clean....) there is a pool of oil in the "pocket" above the fan BUT the belts weren't dirty...
:Before I go all Gung ho I REALLY want to investigate this further.... Something JUST DOESN'T FEEL RIGHT!!!
:FYI, She did NOT smoke, knock or run roughly... there was just oil comming out from the sides of the hood and from under the scoops... more so on the passenger side but a little on the driver's side...
:Also, I've heard mix advice on HOW to store her... most places say to turn over the engine once and a while, the shop that gave the diagnosis said don't worry about it... (They won't do the work becuase there is "too much wrong"...
