I will be getting my photos up on my site real soon. I have my 351w put in for fitting. The 302 block and the 351w block are slightly different. The difference is the y portion where the heads attach are about 1/2 inch taller which makes the block taller and wider and this makes it really hard to fit in. With headers, I could not get my engine in at all. I would have to crush the headers in about 1/2 inch. If the shock towers are modded right, then you can put on headers and change the plugs. My towers are not fully done, but a good start. These pictures are where I am at now. The pictures I have seen are all finished product and I don't know what they have actually done. You will see exactly what I have done. We are also raising the engine about 1 inch to get better header clearance and this will also add one more important thing. Center of balance.... this will give a better 60 ft. time. I am using mine for racing so that will be important. To answer the question better, it fits really tight. If your not going to modify the shock towers, I would not plan on headers and even then, it will still be hard and frustrating to change the plugs. Chris :I have read many of the posts about the 351W swap into the mav. There seems to be differing opinions on how well it fits. My questions are, can you change plugs and install headers on the 351W installed in a mav without any mods to the shock towers. Someone posted some nice pics of modified towers but I was just wondering if that was really necessary for the 351W swap! |
