:I understand that this will seem just a little stupid , you see
hanging my head in abject shame , I have wrenched many many of them there orange motors together but never have I built a FORD
:so I'm what you might call a blue oval idiot), I have heard that 351w heads will bolt up to my 302 with out any problems, is it true? I'm looking to make some power on the cheap and I know that the 302 2bbl heads just don't cut it.
:Anywho don't laugh too much at my lack of the finer points of making power with the humble little 302.
:Thanks for any help you can give.

Just did this swap on my sons F100-302. The 351's are a bolt on swap, but for the best heads look for casting #D5TE-EB. These came on trucks and vans 1975-77. 60.4cc chambers and 1.84 intake--1.54 exh. Early 351 heads have 1.76 Intake--1.45 exhaust. Later heads have 69cc chambers. With a small towing cam and stock exh. manifolds, stock 2bbl carb. the little engine performs great, not a dragstrip engine but has good low end and pulls up to 5500 well. The best thing is it fires up every morning on the least amount of cranking, you know what I mean? Try it you'll like it. Headers and 4bbl would really wake it up, but rear tires would not last on truck with 3.50 gears, and a 17 yr old driver(my son). Orange is good but BLUE is better. Hope to hear from you again. P.S. Forgot about the head bolts, need to get bushings for them. 351's use 1/2 bolts and 302's are 7/16. Bushings are avaiable from most speed equipt. vendors(Jegs, Edelbrock etc) sorry about that, the mind is going fast, among other things.
