:As one who has frequented the board for well over a year, and as a creature of habit, I was sorry to see the familiar change. I have started to get use to the new format however, and it seems at least as good as the old.
: I suspect that the apparent absence of some of the oldtimers may be deceptive. I imagine that quite a few are still lurking around, still checking in case something new breaks, but leaving the oft asked questions to be answered by the not-so-oldtimers. Personally, I look in probably every day. Usually the banter deals with subjects I've satisfied my curiosity about, but once in a while there is a new development. I see a parallel between activity on this board and a typical magazine's "cycles". If you've ever subscribed to a magazine on any subject for a couple of years, you soon start to see the same subjects being covered, perhaps from a new twist, but essentially the gist is the same. In car mags its " 100 best bolt-ons", or "paint your car in your backyard for $50", or "suspension basics". This is necessary for the new blood. But at the same time, look at mags that are 5 years old, and see the differences. Gone are the pro-mods. Now resto-mod is hot. What we are seeing on this board is normal and healthy. I for one would miss this board terribly if it ever ceased to exist. I've said it before, and I'll say it again...Stefan, you render a great service to mankind. The world is a better place because of you! And it's just a bonus that you're a fellow Canuck! Keep up the good work as long as you are able. We sure appreciate it. John B.
