Where do I begin? Anyway, it is a major undertaking to do this conversion. I converted my 77 to factory air. You have to remove the windshield to get the dash out. Once all the old dash & heater box is out of the way, first thing you need to do is block off the drivers vent. Make sure you make this water tight. You have to run the vacuum lines through one of the old heater hose holes. The other will have to be plugged off. You will have to drill a couple of new holes. There will be dimples in the firewall where the new holes have to go. All the controls on the factory air system are controlle by vacuum so you need to keep everything tight. The vacuum switch in the later years have a plastic end which usually breaks off. Make sure yours is intact. The earlier cars switch was all metal. There is a vacuum can under the hood which stores vacuum. There is a built in check valve in one of the lines. Make sure you plug the engine vacuum line into this.(I think this is the correct way, I will check later today & correct if I am wrong) Replace all your "O" rings in the system & have new hoses made. If the system hasent been used in a long time, or the lines have been disconnected & not plugged, you will probably need a new dryer. There is probably about a million other things but I cat think of them right now. Email me or post if you have any more questions or run into problems.
