1 To tighten the fluid cooling lines for the C4 do this:

Get a cheap 12 point 1/2 inch box end wrench and cut an opening into the box end to fit over the line and slide the cut box end over the compression nut and tighten. You will only get about a 1/4 turn at a time but you can do it. I know why not just use a open end wrench. Because they are just too big to get a good grip. I made the mistake of popping in my C4 without connecting those lineds so I speak from experience here.

2. There are two "O" rings that might have gone bad and that may also be the casue of the leak. One is on the Dip stick tube and that is on the top of the C4. The dip stick tube is held in place by a bolt. on the I6 200 that I have it is bolted to the block by itself. On my 302 it is bolted through one of the starter bolts. Either way one bolt and pull out the dip stick and check the "O" ring or see if the tube is bent and causing the leak. The other "O" ring is on the speedo cable on the driver's side of the C4. One screw to remove the little bracket holding it in and a slight tug on the cable and you can check that easily.

3. Now on to that shifting problem. First even being a pint low on a C4 can and will cause a C4 not to shift. Hopefully that is the problem. Second easiest thing is the trans kick down rod. It is on the driver's side. There are two connections on that side of the tranny. One is the gear shift and it clicks if you move it. Don't touch either unless the car is on Jack stands , the emergency grake is on and you have the rear tires blocked well. Anyway the kick down rod is attached to the tranny buy a push nut that can come off. if it has buy push nuts at the Autozone for about $2. The kick down may have also come loose at the top. check these out and you WON"T need a Machanic. All in all if these are your problem then you are looking at under 10 bucks to fix these and most of that is the cheap wrench and the hack saw blade to cut it.
