:I need advice from some Maverick fans---
:I want to buy this car-1976 Maverick, dark blue, less than 20 thousand miles, almost pristine condition; it still has the orginal rubber tires on it! The old lady who owns it wants $4000 dollars for it---is this a good price? I had the engine inspected, it's in excellent condition. it still has the original owners manual in the glovebox---the vinyl on the outside roof of the car isn't even sunfaded; it's been in a garage for 25 years. It isn't missing anything. I'm wondering if this is too much to pay for this car...any advice out there? .......................................... The point of spending that much on restoring a car is often lost on many people. You are not yet awhere of the hassle that is involved in restoring a car. If it is as you say then I would consider the price and try to deal down a little. Having the engine evaluated already and the rest of the car is in fine condition makes the price worth consideration. The only item I can think of would be that the tires should be replaced as they dry rot even though not used. Its a condition were the phenols in the rubber evaporate out over time and leave the rubber hard and prone to crack leaving the cord left for strength. Good luck on your venture. |
